Foodla in new strategic partnership with ICA – simplifies the management of product information in e-commerce
Stockholm, July 10, 2025 –The Swedish tech company Foodla has entered into a collaboration with ICA, where the parties have signed a business agreement that means ICA will use Foodla’s digital platform to collect, manage, and develop product data within the rapidly growing e-commerce sector. The platform makes it possible to efficiently and systematically gather quality-assured product information from suppliers – for thousands of items in ICA stores’ external assortments. This assignment highlights Foodla’s position as a leading platform for product data infrastructure in the grocery trade.
The partnership marks an important step in ICA’s continued investment in modernizing its e-commerce platform and creating a more seamless customer experience. At the same time, it is part of ICA’s ambition to be an efficient and attractive partner for store suppliers – by offering a modern, easy-to-use, and cost-effective tool for sharing product information. By using Foodla’s platform, which is already well established among many suppliers, ICA gains a scalable and automated solution to ensure that product data is correct, up-to-date, and easily accessible – something that is crucial in the digital store.
“We are proud to have earned the trust of such a strong and established player as ICA. Our mission with the platform is to make it simple, affordable, and fast for both ICA and the stores’ suppliers to create, distribute, and manage quality-assured product data. This should be a natural hygiene factor – not a barrier – for all suppliers, large and small, selling through the grocery trade. Digitizing a product for e-commerce should not have to take months – and cost thousands – for store suppliers. With Foodla, it takes minutes – at a fraction of the cost. This collaboration is further proof that our platform is mature and scales well, even in the most demanding environments,” says John Brüel Gabrielsson, CEO and co-founder of Foodla
Foodla, which has previously entered into partnerships with, among others, Coop, is thus continuing its growth journey and strengthening its role as a key player for master data in the grocery industry.
Efficient collection of product data from suppliers with high data quality is a fundamental prerequisite for us to be able to meet customers’ expectations – especially in digital channels, where the demands for correct, updated, and easily accessible product information are higher than ever. Together with Foodla, we have enabled efficient and scalable data management with minimal manual work and short lead times for all external items from ICA stores’ suppliers. The result is more products online with complete and reliable information – and ICA retailers can offer an equally strong assortment online as in-store,” says Peter Johansson, Product Manager Retail Solutions, ICA Sverige AB.
The collaboration is already up and running and covers ICA’s e-commerce operations – at a time when both demand and customers’ expectations for assortment breadth as well as clear and accessible product information are rapidly increasing.
The partnership with ICA is yet another proof point of Foodla’s ability to solve business-critical problems at scale – and of Foodla’s platform now being an established part of the infrastructure for Swedish e-commerce and master data management.
